Melvin H. Hildebrand, 83, oldest son of Henry and Mabel Lee Hildebrand, was born March 2, 1922, at Evening Shade. He died March 21, 2005, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and served in the Army four years from 1942 to 1946.He married Dorothy Webb in 1952. They had three sons. His wife died in 2002.Mr. Hildebrand retired from Civil Service as a dental technician. Following his retirement, he drove a school bus 17 years for the Licking School District.He married Eva Bonham Sept. 25, 2004.He liked farming and gardening.He was preceded in death by his brother, Glen Hildebrand; and sisters, Irene Cochran, Ozelda Havens and Maxine Helton.Surviving are his wife, Eva, of the home; three sons, Rick Hildebrand of Columbia, Mark Hildebrand of Camanche, Iowa, and Tracy Hildebrand of Rosebud; a brother, Gale Hildebrand of Evening Shade; two sisters, Josie Graner of Roby and Novella Pfahl of Kileen, Texas; nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Services were March 25 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Wilbur Mobley officiating. Burial was in the Licking Cemetery. “
