Edna Lee Lewis, 91, daughter of Henry Knollie and Susie Velma King Speaks, was born Feb. 2, 1914, at Commerce, Texas. She died April 13, 2005, at Hopkins County Memorial Hospital in Texas.She married Thomas Barney Lewis Dec. 23, 1928, at Birthright. He died in 1952.Before retiring, Mrs. Lewis was a dietitian for Dallas Medical Surgical. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur Springs, Texas.She moved to Houston and lived with her son, Richard, from 2001 until 2003, when she moved back to Texas. While in this area, she traveled when possible with the Country Bumpkins, taking tickets at the door.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, three brothers and two infant daughters.Surviving are five sons, Donald Wayne Lewis of Arlington, Texas, Travis Eugene Lewis and Tommy Bert Lewis of Houston and Gary Joe Lewis and Richard Glenn Lewis of Sulphur Springs, Texas; three daughters, Wanda Lewis Clayton of Suphur Springs, Texas, Dorothy Lewis Hargrave of Midlothian, Texas, and Judy Carol Lewis of Irving, Texas; one brother, Billie Joe Speaks of Grand Prairie, Texas; 15 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.Services were April 15 at the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, Texas, with the Rev. Fred Lewis, the Rev. Timothy Clayton and the Rev. Don Shaw officiating. Burial was in the Tira Cemetery.Memorials may be made toward the purchase of a bench for Lone Star Plaza in Houston in her honor to Tom or Sherry Lewis, P.O. Box 106, Houston, Mo. 65483 “
