Gary Donald Foulk, 61, son of Harry and Ada Miller Foulk, was born Feb. 17, 1943, at the family farm at Summersville. He died April 16, 2005, at his home after an 18-month battle with cancer.The family moved to Birch Tree in 1946 to establish a general store and feed business.He graduated from Birch Tree in 1961 and moved to St. Louis, where he worked at St. Louis Flying Service. He later worked at McDonnel Aircraft building F-4 Phantoms.He married Dorothy DeBord of Mountain View in 1964. They made their home in St. Charles.In 1969, they left the city and moved to Montier, where they operated a general store and later added a milk route.To meet the needs of the community, they changed to auto parts in 1976. They were contributing delegates to the Shannon County Democrat Committee.In 1990, they sold the business and he began working in automotive sales in Mountain Grove and West Plains. They moved to West Plains, where he joined O’Reilly Automotive.The Foulks moved to Springfield in 2002, where he worked at O’Reilly in Nixa.He was diagnosed and treated for cancer in 2003 and his wife left her job in June 2004 to devote her nursing skills to her husband.Surviving are his wife and daughter, Laurene Ann.A celebration of his life with a eulogy is 2 o’clock Saturday, May 7, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Mountain View with a casual visitation until 5 p.m.His ashes will be scattered at a later date in a private ceremony. Additional memorial services will be arranged in Springfield at a later date. “
