Orville “”Slick”” Lee Schlichter, 65, son of Chester and Esther Jones Schlichter, was born Dec. 23, 1939, at LeRoy, Kan. He died April 26, 2005, at University Hospital in Columbia.He graduated from Burlington High School in Burlington, Kan., in 1957 and entered the U.S. Navy that fall. He retired from the Navy December 1975 as chief petty officer.He was a member of Holy Cross Episcopal Church at Sullivans Island, S.C.He married Sharon Kay Volland March 11, 1960. They had two children.Mr. Schlichter moved to Licking in 1975 and later to Edgar Springs.He married Bernice V. Craig Harris Oct. 20, 1979. They had one son.He was preceded in death by his father; sister, Elaine Lee; and stepson, David Harris.Surviving are his wife of the home at Edgar Springs; mother of Isle of Palms, S.C.; children, Sheryl Elaine Turner of Summersville, Charles Lee Schlichter of Chesapeake, Va., and Chester L. Schlichter of the home; stepchildren, Diana K. Grann of Sullivan, Donald L. Harris of Edgar Springs, Dewayne Harris of Rolla, Debbie Hinkson of Avilla, Ind., and Darrell Harris of St. Charles; one brother, Keith Schlichter of Isle of Palms, S.C.; two sisters, Ola Leppert of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and Sally Smith of Bothell, Wash.; two granddaughters, eight step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.Services were April 29 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with Fred Hamilton officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the Edgar Springs Cemetery “
