Blanche Meda Barnes, 87, daughter of James and Lavina Brown Bailey, was born Sept. 26, 1917, at Eunice. She died May 20, 2005, at her home at Summersville.She married John Henry Barnes Sept. 28, 1935. They had eight children.Mrs. Barnes was saved at an early age and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Summersville. She and her husband and friends, Merle and Linda Smith, sang together as the Hallelujah Quartet. She was preceded in death by her husband; two children who died in infancy, Shirley Marie and Brenton; one grandson, four sisters and four brothers.Surviving are three sons, Charles of St. Charles, John Jr. of Fredericktown and Lyle of Summersville; three daughters, Juaneta Manning of Ozark, Helen Summer of Summersville and Elaine Wright of St. Charles; three sisters, Maxine Gregory, Loretha Hubbs and Reva Lanning; one brother, Walter Bailey; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Services were May 23 at the First Baptist Church in Summersville with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Bethel Cemetery near Summersville under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. “
