DORA SHERRILL

Dora Louise Sherrill, 91, daughter of John A. and Ira Johnson Thomas, was born Sept. 4, 1913, at Kinderpost. She died May 6, 2005, at Heritage Skilled Nursing Home at Rolla.She graduated April 20, 1931, from Licking High School and married James A. “”Pat”” Sherrill the same day. They had one son.The Sherrills farmed the family homestead. Mrs. Sherrill assisted her husband in the Texas County Insurance business until his death in 1969.Mrs. Sherrill loved sewing, was an avid reader and wrote beautiful poetry. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star and White Shrine.In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Edward Thomas; and three sisters, Grace Siddens, Claudine Reinecker and Mabel Shanks.Surviving are her son, Sterling Thomas Sherrill; one brother, Henry Thomas; two sisters, Bettye Lindsey and Edna Prier; three grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Services were May 10 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Carter officiating. Burial was in the Shafer Cemetery near Licking.”
