James E. Allen, 72, died May 3, 2005, at Houston House Nursing Center from complications of diabetes.He received his master’s degree in biology from Peabody College at Nashville, Tenn. He and his wife, Elizabeth, moved to Alaska in 1958, where they taught school and lived for 25 years. In addition to teaching, Mr. Allen was an accomplished wood carver, specializing in Alaskan animals and birds.In 1982, the Allens moved to the Bucyrus community to fulfill his dream of living on a farm where he could raise pigs, cattle and own his own mule, Sissy. He loved to garden, was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to classical music.He and his wife celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 7.A memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Texas County Library, 117 E.
