William “”Bill”” Leanhard Rieder, 69, son of Willie C. and Vera S. Kupias Rieder, was born March 27, 1936, at Chicago, Ill. He died June 6, 2005.Mr. Rider served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1958, attaining the rank of specialist second class. He served at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Monmoth, N.J., and with the occupation forces in South Korea. He contracted polio while in South Korea and left the military after treatment.He attended the University of Illinois at Navy Pier and DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago. He was a plumber and plumbing contractor. He also was a repair/maintenance man in Illinois and Missouri, the last with the Washington School District.He loved reading and enjoyed the Chicago Cubs.Mr. Rieder was a lay minister for the Houston Bible Baptist Church.He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Mae; his parents and an infant son, Carl Edward.Surviving are his sisters, Karla von Lehe of Fountain Hills, Ariz., and Bette Pomrenke of Mobile, Ala.; seven stepchildren, Deborah Rathgeber of Rolla, Monica Peres of Cordova, Tenn., Regina Neal of Union, Ricky Kidd of Minneapolis, Kan., Patty Graen of Killeen, Texas, Richard of Licking, Anthony Kidd of Union and Paula Ellis of Houston; 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.Services were June 8 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Bruce Allen and Billy Walker officiating.
