Jeanette R. Hutsell, 75, daughter of William and Althea Hamrick Wade, was born July 25, 1929, at Slabtown near Licking. She died July 22, 2005, at Elfindale Manor in Springfield.She attended Licking High School and earned her bachelor’s degree in home economics and physical education in 1951 from Southwest Missouri State University. She earned her master’s degree in 1965 from Drury University with a specialist degree in counseling.While a student at SMSU, she served as drum majorette, where she met her future husband, Harlin Hutsell, a member of the football Bears. They were married March 5, 1948, and had two children while living at Houston.Mrs. Hutsell began her teaching career as a physical education teacher at Houston High School. The family moved to Springfield in 1954 and she taught at Pipkin Junior High and Pershing Junior High.She transferred to Jarrett Junior High as a counselor, where she remained until her retirement.The Hutsells owned and operated a farm in Wright County near Mountain Grove, where they raised Limousin cattle.Mrs. Hutsell was a member of K05, Honorary Home Economics Fraternity, Springfield Area Retired Teachers Association and Camelot Art Group. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for 57 years, where she participated in the adult choir for 56 years. She also worked with the youth.She enjoyed raising vegetables, doing crafts, collecting antiques, going fishing, quilting and tending her flowers and taking them to those sick in the hospital.While on a trip to Europe, she visited the gravesite of her brother, Evan, in France. He died serving his country during World War II.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Kyle.Surviving are her daughter, Rhonda Gibson; two brothers, Elvin Wade and Floyd “”Buck”” Wade of Houston; one sister, Mildred Altman; and four grandchildren.Services were July 25 at the First Baptist Church in Springfield. Burial was in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Greenlawn South.Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 525 South St., Springfield, Mo. 65806. “
