Evelyn Louise Covert, 79, daughter of Fern Commodore and Esther Crossland Scheets, was born Dec. 11, 1925, at Tyrone. She died Aug. 9, 2005, at Houston House Nursing Center following a long illness.Mrs. Covert worked for more than 25 years for the Department of the Army at Fort Leonard Wood.She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young girl and enjoyed attending church, traveling and spending time with family and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Albert William Snyder; four brothers, Elmer Dee Scheets and Melvin Scheets and infant twin brothers; one sister, Betty Lou Scheets; an infant son, David Leon Snyder; and an infant grandson.Surviving are her husband, Herbert “”Pete”” Covert of Plato; four sons, Albert Snyder and Kirby Snyder of Plato, Gerald Snyder of Bucyrus and James Snyder of Jefferson City; two daughters, Burma Barton of Raymondville and Karen Leighty of Cabool; a stepson, Tony Covert of Nebo; two stepdaughters of New York; 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.Services were Aug. 13 at the Craig-Hurtt-Bradley Funeral Home Chapel in Mountain Grove with the Rev. Ronald Turner officiating. Burial was in the Old Union Cemetery. “
