Arthur Lee Kirkwood, 65, son of Elmer Kirkwood and Vivian Noe Kirkwood, was born April 10, 1940, at Des Moines, Iowa. He died Aug. 19, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer.He married Betty Lee Jackson Aug. 16, 1959. They had four children.Mr. Kirkwood loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping with his family. The family cared for many wild animals and worked together making molasses.The family moved to California in the ’60s to operate a large dairy. They later returned to Boiling Springs to own and operate their own dairy. He started logging and operating a post mill and treating plant.In 1987, they moved to Mountain Grove to run another dairy. In recent years, they moved back to their Boiling Springs home to retire.Mr. Kirkwood was a member of the Fowler Pentecostal Church. He was preceded in death by his mother; a brother, James Grover; a sister, Betty Sue; and a grandson.Surviving are his wife of 46 years; daughter, Carolyn Lee Trentham of Success; three sons, Arthur Lee Jr. of Simmons, Elmer Lee and Michael Lee of Licking; his father of Houston; one brother, Herbert Kirkwood of Houston; three sisters, Shirley Snelling of Houston and Annetta Shelton and Bonnie Hayes of Ellis Prairie; seven grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.Services were Aug. 22 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Kelly officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. “
