Joseph Dixon Jr., 82, son of Joseph Dixon Sr. and Annie Pearl Mitchell Dixon, was born June 28, 1923, at Licking. He died Sept. 11, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.He married Elizabeth Shrout Dec. 17, 1941. They had five children: Billy, Mary, Jerry, Judy and Roger.Mr. Dixon went to St. Louis 1946 and worked at the Chevrolet plant. He later worked at Fischer Body until 1957.He returned to Licking, where he was a farmer and city marshal at Licking. He was a deputy sheriff of Texas County under Sheriff Len Wilson.He married Maxine Smith in 1968. They had three children: Lori, Bobby and Cindy.Mr. Dixon purchased a small farm north of Houston, where he lived until his health failed.He accepted Christ eight days before his death.He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ora Ellen Dixon and Betty Dean Hope; one brother, Kenneth Jack Dixon; and a granddaughter.Surviving are four sons, Bobby Dale Dixon of Houston, Billy Joe Dixon of Licking, Jerry Edwin Dixon of Jackson and Roger Leon Dixon of Eldon; four daughters, Mary Elizabeth Francis of Union, Judy Ann Neugebauer of Salem, Lori Michelle Patton of Ozark and Cindy Lou Blythe of Willow Springs; one brother, Laymon Dixon of Licking; two sisters, Zora Rosetta and Norman Lavine; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.Services were Sept. 14 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Boone Creek Cemetery. “
