Missouri State Highway Patrol Trooper Donald Kevin Floyd, 45, eldest son of Donald Earl Floyd and Dixie Darlena Wilson Floyd, was born Sept. 25, 1959, at Houston. He died Sept. 22, 2005, after being struck by a pickup while conduction a traffic stop on Highway 60 near Dunn in Texas County.Mr. Floyd graduated from Licking High School in 1977. He married Cheryl Ann Trentham Aug. 15, 1981, at the United Methodist Church in Licking. They had two children.After the wedding, the couple moved to Hobbs, N.M., where he worked in the oil fields for two years. They returned to Missouri and he worked for Paramount Cap Co. at Eminence for several years.He was commissioned by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Aug. 1, 1986, recruit class 58. He was a member of Troop G headquartered at Willow Springs, patrolling Texas County.He was a member of the Boone Creek Baptist Church.When not on duty, he loved to hunt, fish, golf and play cards. His outgoing personality and wry sense of humor enabled him to put people at ease and handle difficult situations during his 19-year career as a trooper.He was preceded in death by his father; paternal grandmother, Dorothy Floyd; and material grandfather, Rado Wilson.Surviving are his wife; two children, Jacob Kevin Floyd of Licking and Telena DeShea Floyd of the home; his mother and stepfather, Donald Young; two brothers, Jeff Floyd of Columbia and Darren Floyd of Pensacola, Fla.; stepsisters, Belinda Shelton of West Pueblo, Colo., and Teresa McCarter of Rogersville; stepbrother, Tim Young of Pueblo, Colo.; paternal grandfather, Udell Floyd of Licking; and maternal grandmother, Viola Wilson of Raymondville.Services were Sept. 26 at the Licking High School gym with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial with full Missouri State Highway Patrol honors was in the Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home of Licking.Donations may be made to the Kevin Floyd Memorial Fund, established to benefit his children, in care of the funeral home, P.O.
