Clanton Champ Cooper, 82, son of Harry and Fannie Norris Cooper, was born Oct. 1, 1923, at Montauk. He died Oct. 2, 2005, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center at Rolla.Mr. Cooper joined the Army at age 17 during World War II. He spent most of his 36 months in Germany and received several awards.He married Eunice Opal Willis June 11, 1948. They had three children.He spent most of his working years as a carpenter. He enjoyed farming and spending time with his family.He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Chester; two sisters, Ann Finn and Carrie Payne; and a great-granddaughter.Surviving are his wife of 57 years of the home; two sons, Clinton Vince and Larry James of Licking; one daughter, Carol Lane of Licking; two brothers, Ray Cooper of Elk Creek and Coy Cooper of Licking; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.Services were Oct. 5 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Boone Creek Cemetery.Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society “
