Veril Alex Overy, 70, son of Bill and Viola Pittman Overy, was born Oct. 14, 1934, at St. Louis. He died Oct. 4, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.At an early age, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and was stationed at MCRD San Diego, Calif., until 1953 when he returned to St. Louis.He worked for A.E. Schmidt Billiard Co. of St. Louis and Jones Bros. of Little Rock, Ark. He traveled to different states, moving and repairing pool tables. He married Fern Marie Cole June 27, 1959. They had one son. The family moved to Houston in 1970.He enjoyed hunting and fishing.Mr. Overy was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Edgar Reed; one sister, Lorene Wolff; and one brother, Bob.Surviving are his wife of the home; one son, Tony Overy; one brother, Roy Overy of Arizona; two sisters, Leola Wheeler and Joyce Sparks of Georgia; and two grandchildren.Services were Oct. 8 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Moore officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery. “
