Virgil Orval Bandy, 80, son of Benjamin Allen Bandy and Mary Dicy Bandy, was born Jan. 27, 1925, at Summersville. He died Oct. 21, 2005, at his home at Summersville.Mr. Bandy attended Summersville School and married Leona Mary Tuttle March 11, 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy from May 5, 1944, to March 13, 1946.He worked briefly at Granite City Steel at Granite City, Ill., and at a farm in north Missouri before returning to Summersville to farm.Mr. Bandy loved the outdoors and built a successful beef cattle farm. After poor health confined him to home, he spent many hours watching the birds at the many feeders, catching glimpses of wild turkey and deer and watching his cattle as they came to a pond below the house.He bottle fed and raised many orphan animals: lambs, pigs, deer and a family of skunks.He was preceded in death by an infant sister, his parents; and one brother, Ray Bandy.Surviving are his wife of the home; caregiver, Sharon Pyatt of Summersville; one brother, Claude Bandy of Edwardsville, Ill.; and one sister, Virginia Head of Granite City, Ill.Services were Oct. 23 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Riley Cemetery. “
