John Wesley Choate, 93, son of Edward and Ozella Forbes Choate, was born Dec. 3, 1911, at Unionville. He died Oct. 18, 2005, at Resthaven Retirement Home at Sedalia.He married Ruby Garrison Dec. 2, 1936, at Unionville. They had six children.Mr. Choate was a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry most of his life. The Choates lived in Indianola, Iowa, for many years. When he went into semi-retirement, they moved to Colorado. He moved to Houston to be near his family. He operated a road grader for the county before he retired. Even though he worked in construction, his love was still on the farm.After the death of his wife, he moved to Unionville. He had lived at Sedalia for the last three years.In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Fon Choate and George Choate; and three sisters, Mona Hinerman, Virginia Geisenberg and Veva Schriefer.Surviving are his children, Bill of Gillette, Wyo., Bob of Moline, Ill., Ronnie of Des Moines, Iowa, Dick of Houston, Wayne of Sedalia and Sharon Carter of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Fay Neuhring; 26 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.Services were Oct. 22 at the Playle and Jones Family Funeral Home at Unionville with Howard Luscan officiating.
