Athol Preston Ramsey, 89, son of Robert Burton Ramsey and Melinda Arminda Baker Ramsey, was born Nov. 4, 1916, at Licking. He died Dec. 23, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital.As a teen, he started working, doing work for farmers. Later he was a school bus driver, owned and operated a milk route for the Cabool milk plant and worked in retail sales. He married Ollie Blankenship Beard in January 1938.He moved to Worland, Wyo., in the early ’40s, working on a sugar beet ranch.He married Donna Corinne Howerton Brooks Aug. 15, 1953, at Salem. The spent more than 30 years as foster parents.He was baptized at age 16 and rededicated his life to God in the summer of 1960. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Houston and was a Gideon for several years until he had to give up driving.He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Brenda Kay Ramsey; five brothers, Vernon, Earl, Oral, Kenneth and Gene; three sisters, Nona Roberts, Eunice Ramsey and Juanita Imhoff; and one stepson, James Leland Beard.Surviving are his wife of the home at Houston; one son, Daniel Preston Ramsey of Houston; one daughter, Darlene Coney of Independence; two stepdaughters, Jeanette Beard White of Kilgore, Texas, and Geneveve Beard Wilson of Houston; one sister, Ruth Stienbarger of Licking; three grandchildren, one foster granddaughter and two great-granddaughters.Services were Dec. 27 at the First Christian Church in Houston with Jeff Moore officiating. Burial was in the Boone Creek Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home. “
