Clarence Wayne “”Clancy”” Reed, 80, son of Lawrence and Orpha Venters Reed, was born Aug. 30, 1925, at Pana, Ill. He died Dec. 14, 2005, at General Leonard Wood Army Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood.He joined the Army March 21, 1946, and served in many parts of the country. While stationed in Germany, he met and married Gerda Alisch Dec. 22, 1961.Mr. Reed served in campaigns in Vietnam, receiving two Bronze Stars along with medals and commendations.He retired from the U.S. Army May 31, 1972, and lived near Licking.He was actively involved with the Licking Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6337, serving as commander for several years. He was also appointed district commander. He was a member of the Licking American Legion Post #559.He was preceded in death by an infant brother.Surviving are his wife of the home; son, William “”Bill”” Bernd Reed of Licking; stepbrother, Ray Phelps of Mountain View, Ark.; and a granddaughter.Services were Dec. 14 at the Fox Funeral Home Chapel in Licking with Chaplain Brown officiating. Burial with full military honors was in the Licking Cemetery. “
