91, son of Charles L. and Emily Ann Mitchell Rodgers, was born Nov. 16, 1914, at Licking. He died Dec. 7, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston after suffering a stroke on his birthday.He lived his entire life on the family farm which has been in his family for more than 150 years and in the house where he was born. He attended Ozark School and graduated from Licking High School.He became responsible for the farm during his last year of high school after the death of his father. For many years it was a dairy farm, changing to beef when Mr. Rodgers began working as a carpenter in the late ’50s. He was involved in the construction of many houses in the area for 25 years.He and his sister, Virginia, never married and lived and worked together on the farm until her death in 1981.During the ’80s and ’90s, Mr. Rodgers traveled in the lower 48 states, Alaska, the middle and western provinces of Canada, Israel and the Holy Land areas of Egypt, Jordan and Palestine.His last trip was a 29-day tour of Europe just two months before a stroke in 1998.He was baptized in Spring Creek in 1931 and joined the Methodist church in Licking Nov. 22, 1931. He was baptized in the Jordan River in 1996.He was preceded in death by his parents; and four younger sisters, Flora, Virginia, Ruth and Ethel.Surviving are cousins, nieces and nephews and his caregivers, Roscoe and Marie Rodgers and John and Tressia Rodgers of Licking.Services were Dec. 10 at the United Methodist Church in Licking with Bob Johnson and Connie Bell officiating. Burial was in the Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home. “
