Lloyd Thomas Walls, 91, seventh child and first son of Tom and Janie Walls, was born April 24, 1914, near Sargent. He died Dec. 11, 2005, at the Kabul Nursing Home.He spent his entire life in Texas County, where he attended Victor School for eight years and completed two years of high school at Elk Creek.He became a Christian at age 15 and began attending the Mount Pisgah Free Will Baptist Church in 1929, a year after it was organized. He was an active member for 76 years, attending until his death. He was church clerk for 56 years and helped with building projects except for the current addition to the fellowship hall.He met Margaret Douglas in 1935, when she was teaching at Stultz School about four miles from where Mr. Walls lived with his parents.They were married Nov. 25, 1937. In 1939, they purchased a farm in the Mount Pisgah community, built a home and raised their family.Their farm income came from milking cows and selling eggs until the mid-’50s when Mr. Walls began working on construction with Marion Sweet. Primarily, they did concrete work, laying blocks, bricks and stones. He was involved in the construction of many of Cabool’s major buildings: the shoe factory, Methodist church, Ballew Feed, Cabool Elementary, the creamery (Dairy Farmers of America) and the Sunny Hill Poultry plant – now Woodpro Cabinetry.He worked for Dairy Farmers of America for 13 years, retiring in 1979. After his official retirement, he helped his children with projects: brush hogging, carpentry and construction at Woodpro. He was persuaded in 1988 to write his life story, “”A Look into the Past.””The Walls sold their farm in 1984 and moved to a home with less acreage on the west side of Cabool. In 1998, the Brandts purchased the property but the Walls continued to live there.He was preceded in death by his wife in 2002; a daughter, Joyce Elaine, in infancy; six sisters and one brother.Surviving are his children, Keith Walls, Carolyn Brandt, LeRoy Walls, Donna Farmer and Glen Walls of Cabool; one brother, Floyd Walls of Mountain Grove; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.Services were Dec. 14 at the Mount Pisgah Free Will Baptist church with David Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Cabool Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home. “
