Martha W. Bates Price, 84, daughter of George Franklin Bates and Rebecca “”Katy”” Platter Bates, was born Feb. 22, 1921. She died Dec. 2, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.She married Harold A. Price Feb. 2, 1941. They had two children.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years; one sister, Pearl Blankenship; two brothers, William Bates and Donald Bates; and an infant grandson.Surviving are her son, William H. “”Bill”” Price; daughter, Twyla K. Hackman; three brothers, Lawrence Bates of Licking, Charles Bates of Portland, Ore., and George Bates of St. Louis; one sister, Margarette Wohlwend of Iowa; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.Services were Dec. 5 at the New Life Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Max Courtney and Dr. Wilbur Mobley officiating. Burial was in the Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home. “
