Myrtle M. Bashor Freeman, 93, daughter of Amos Bashor and Nora Griffith, was born Oct. 20, 1912, at Summersville. She died Dec. 24, 2005, in a California hospital from complications of pneumonia.As a young woman, she taught for a year in a one-room school, Johns, at Arroll. She moved to Chicago, Ill., where she was a Harvey Girl, waitress, for the Fred Harvey Restaurant chain.In the early ’30s, she met and married Sanford Burch. They owned and operated a bookstore for 28 years. She was also secretary for the United Methodist Church in Maywood, Ill., for nine years.After retirement, she and her second husband, Albert Freeman, moved to her childhood home in Missouri. They enjoyed spending time with family, playing board and card games, building bonfires and doing cookouts.Mrs. Freeman was a member of the Summersville Garden Club and attended church at Arroll.She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands; son, Fred Burch; half brother, Fred Bashor; two sisters, Carrie Baird and Ann Myers; and three brothers, Amos, Harvey and Charley Bashor.Surviving are her son, Lawrence of California; two brothers, Mark Bashor of Springfield and Ralph Bashor of Summersville; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.A Bashor family memorial service is 2 o’clock Sunday at the Arroll Community Church with the Rev. Glenn Green officiating under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home of Summersville. “
