Ruth Venita Gregory Farley, 92, daughter of Tilford and Laura Hines Gregory, was born Oct. 3, 1913, at Raymondville. She died Dec. 31, 2005, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston. She had been a resident of Houston House for two years.She grew up at Raymondville, where she attended school.She married Hubert Edward Baker. They had one son.Mr. Baker died at Staten Island, N.Y., from a tropical disease while serving in the U.S. Army.She later married Joe Farley. He died in 1986.Mrs. Baker was a charter member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Houston.In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Luke, Loren, Ira, Roy and Tilford Elmer Gregory; and two sisters, Aggie McGrew and Lovena Haney.Surviving are her son, Ed of Houston; two sisters, Rosa Dykes and Betty Kell of Raymondville; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.Services were Jan. 3 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery. “
