William E. Deigel II, 85, son of William Edward Deigel I and Gertrude Bradley Deigel, was born Jan. 21, 1920, at Rochester, N.Y. He died Jan. 4, 2006, at Licking Park Manor.He was married to Edith H. Arlt Deigel of Houston for 55 years.Mr. Deigel was in the U.S. Army for 27 years, attaining the rank of first sergeant before retiring. He was commander of the American Legion and a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.Surviving are his sons, Axel Deigel of Indianapolis, Ind., and Clarence Deigel of Prairie View, Ill.; daughter, Melissa Hammons of Jefferson City; two brothers of Lake Alfred, Fla.; and four grandchildren.Services were Jan. 7 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Kettner officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.Memorials may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church building fund or Hospice of Care. “
