Amy Emily Barnhart, 90, daughter of Baxter and Leota Sanders Pearcy, was born Feb. 3, 1917, in the Flat Rock community. She died Feb. 13, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston following a short illness.

She married Deeroo Barnhart Jan. 11, 1941, at the home of the Rev. Ernest Ormsby. The Barnharts had two children.

Mrs. Barnhart was baptized as a young adult by the Rev. Ewell Groves in Roubidoux Creek and became a member of the Plato Baptist Church. She had attended Lynchburg and Pine Creek Baptist churches for the last few years.

She was active in the Plato Extension Club. While serving as president, the club was active in getting the Plato streets paved. She was also involved in various community activities. As a homemaker, she loved sewing, cooking and being around her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents; and brothers and sisters, Mae Thomas, Johnnie Pearcy, Myrtle Pearcy, Edna Wallace, Gladys Shelhammer, Olive Dixon and Helen Huff.

Surviving are her son, Bobby Dee Barnhart of Houston; daughter, Mary Jane Weber of Plato; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 16 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
