Frances Maxine Vennink, 76, sixth child of Joseph Albert and Pearl Elizabeth Lund, was born Oct. 9, 1930, at Kottke Valley Township in North Dakota. She died Feb. 8, 2007.

After marrying Gerald Crismon Elmore in Montana, they moved to Morocco, Africa, where their two oldest children started to school. In the fall of 1958, they moved to Houston.

She married John Edward Vennink in 1976.

She retired in 1995 from The Lee Co. as payroll clerk and thoroughly enjoyed retirement.

Mrs. Vennink’s passions were her family, friends, church, bridge, traveling, reading and cooking. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, Missionaries, three bridge clubs, the Democratic Party, the Birthday Club and American Legion Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Victor, Joseph and John; and three sisters, Louisa Albright, Joyce Johnson and Sharon Badke.

Surviving are her husband of the home in Houston; two sons, Timothy Alfred Elmore of Alpharetta, Ga., and Alan Clark Elmore of Amersterdam, Mo.; one daughter, Susan Elizabeth Warkentin of Houston; one sister, Vereen Karath of Granville, N.D.; stepdaughters, Judy Bonner of Cabool, Kathryn Fontinel of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Marlene Blake of St. Louis; stepson, Don Jenkins of Omaha, Neb.; 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 14 at the First Christian Church in Houston with Jeff Moore and Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
