Marilyn Louise Ferguson Mitchell, 57, daughter of Silas E. and Verna V. Kneedler Ferguson, was born May 31, 1949, at Waynesville. She died Feb. 25, 2007, at Lake Regional Hospital at Osage Beach.

She grew up and spent her entire life in Houston, graduating from Houston High School in 1967.

She was baptized in May 1957 and became a member of the First Christian Church in Houston, where her father was an elder and her mother treasurer.

She attended the University of Missouri-Rolla and Drury University.

She married Bradley Steven Mitchell Aug. 3, 1972, at the First Christian Church.

Mrs. Mitchell was a secretary for the guidance counselor and other positions at the Houston Schools from the late ’70s to the late ’90s.

She was a member of the Missouri National Guard Auxiliary and Houston Alumni Association. She enjoyed playing canasta, dancing, flowers, golf, quilting, reading, attending the theater, walking and spending time at the beach. She was a collector of Fiesta Ware, Candlewick and Belsnickle.

She spent countless hours with sons at Boy Scout events, ball games, swim meets and summer camps.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband of the home; two sons, Michael Shane Mitchell of Olathe, Kan., and Matthew Steven Mitchell of Janesville, Wis.; one sister, Charlotte Sutton of Houston; and one brother, Charles Ferguson of Macomb, Ill.

Memorial services were Feb. 28 at the First Christian Church in Houston with Jeff Moore and Dr. Howell Burkhead officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
