Wesley C. Kamplain, 85, son of Convers and Josephine Kamplain, was born June 14, 1921, at Essex. He died Feb. 10, 2007, at his home at Republic following a long illness.
As a teenager, he spent three years in the Civilian Conservation Corps camps in Oregon and Iowa. He served in the Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
He owned Houston Auto Parts in Houston for about 10 years, selling to Herb Bray in 1977.
Mr. Kamplain was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church.
He enjoyed trout fishing, boating, woodworking and laughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and one brother.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Pauline; two sons, David Kamplain of Clifton Hill and Wesley Kamplain of Springfield; two daughters, Melissa McCaskill of Republic and Melinda Block of Huntsville; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were Feb. 11 at Messiah Lutheran Church. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery, North.
