Fern S. Vandiver, 90, daughter of Lee and Emma Coble Collins, was born

June 20, 1916, at Dykes. She died April 6, 2007, at the home of her son,

Lonnie, at Rogersville.

She married Ralph Vandiver April 8, 1933, at Bendavis. The Rev. George

Howard performed the ceremony.

Mrs. Vandiver spent her life in the Fairview/Dykes community. The

Vandivers had four sons.

She gave her heart to the Lord at an early age and was active in her church.

She loved quilting and crocheting and made many baby afghans.

She was preceded in death by her husband and parents; one son, Bob; one

brother, Homer Collins; and a sister, Faye Sillyman.

Surviving are three sons, Jack of Cabool, John of Houston and Lonnie of

Rogersville; one sister, Mabel Walker of Houston; three half sisters, Noralee

Hutsell of Houston, Bonnie Odle of Marshalltown, Iowa, and Sue Hensley

of Kansas City; one half brother, Steve Collins of Houston; 16 grandchildren

and 24 great-grandchildren.

Services were April 9 at the Fairview Pentecostal Holiness Church with the

Rev. Lonnie Vandiver and the Rev. John Emery officiating. Burial was in

the Bado Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.
