James Edward Hoffman, 63, son of Ralph J. and Louise Henrietta Babzin Hoffman, was born May 31, 1943, at Aurora, Ill. He died April 16, 2007, at Houston House Nursing Center.

He graduated from Aurora in 1962 and joined the U.S. Air Force March 18, 1963. He was discharged March 17, 1967.

He married Kay Ahrens Aug. 26, 1972, at Aurora, Ill.

Mrs. Hoffman worked at Lyon Workspace Products in Aurora, Ill. He was a member of the Nagle Christian Church.

The Hoffmans moved to the Houston area in 1987. He loved the area and took advantage of the places to go hunting and fishing. He did carpentry work and craft projects.

Due to health problems, he moved to Houston House three years ago.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his wife of the home at Houston; two brothers, Ralph Hoffman of Salem and Albert Hoffman of Yukon; and two sisters, Alice Kramer and Shirley Rosenow of Aurora, Ill.

Services were April 18 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Snelling officiating. Burial was in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery at Springfield.
