Harold Wayne Mayberry, 72, son of Roy and Ilene Mayberry, was born Oct. 8, 1934, at Bell City. He died April 29, 2007, at Lester E. Cox Medical Center South in Springfield as a result of cancer.

He graduated from Puxico High school and married Janis Borneman July 13, 1953. They had two children.

Mr. Mayberry was employed in St. Louis from 1953-’57. He served in the U.S. Army with the 208th Military Police Co. from 1957-’59.

He was a supervisor at organizational maintenance at Fort Leonard Wood until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of the Plato Masonic Lodge #469 and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason at the Joplin Temple.

He served as a volunteer sheriff’s deputy in Pulaski and Texas counties for several years. He was also a member of the Democrat Central Committee of Pulaski County and was Democrat committeeman in Texas County as legislative vice chair.

He had a lifelong love of riding and showing horses and cattle farming.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

Surviving are his wife of the home; daughter, Susan Spector of Joplin; son, Brad Mayberry of Marshfield; brother, George “Bud” Mayberry of Advance; three grandchildren, two step-grandsons and four step-great-grandchildren.

Services are 2 o’clock today (Thursday) at the Roby Christian Church with Eugene Earp, the Rev. Wesley Wallace and Kyle Willis officiating. Burial is in the Westwind Cemetery on the family farm under
