Letha June Kempski, 75, daughter of John Nicholas and Letha Lillian Moore York, was born May 31, 1931, at Bloodland. She died May 14, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She married Casmir Francis Kempski in 1979.
Mrs. Kempski made quilts for each member of her family and several for her extended family. She was a painter, not only on canvas but saw blades and other items. Other hobbies included crocheting, knitting, beadwork, doll making, picking berries, jelly and candy making and mushroom hunting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Casey; five brothers, Richard, Don, Lonnie, Hubert and Rex; three sisters, Louise, Joy and Sue; two sons, Michael and Terry Shrout; a great-granddaughter and one great-great-granddaughter.
Surviving are two sons, Kimberly Shrout of Lockport, Ill., and Donald Shrout of Licking; two brothers, Ernest York of Sedalia and John York of Portland, Ore.; one sister, Jane Rickerson of Gresham, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
Memorial services were May 19 at the Success Baptist Church under the direction of Fox Funeral Home.
