Hubert Dean Wright, 71, son of Clyde Wright and Flora McGowan Wright Mathis, was born Jan. 5, 1936, at Wardell. He died June 2, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hosptial in Houston.
He serviced in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he graduated from Houston High School in 1957.
He married Doris Kiser in 1961. They had five children.
He married Laverne Guion McKinney in 1982.
Mr. Wright received Christ as his savior and was baptized.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, music and dancing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Laverne of Bucyrus; four daughters, Dawn Spencer of Houston, Karen Shelton of Bucyrus, Traci Knubley of Festus and Patti Roberts of Richland; one son, Gale Wright of Houston; three stepchildren, Gail Smith of Green River, Wyo., Earlene Arbogast of Bucyrus and Marsha McGovern; two sisters, Amy Stone of Spruce Pine, Ala., and Ruth Macagno of Fresno, Calif.; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and 13 step-great-grandchildren.
Services were June 5 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
