Mary Delores Caviness, 73, daughter of Bill and Maxine Kofahl, was born March 21, 1934, in a farmhouse near Licking. She died July 20, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital of congestive heart failure.

As an infant, the family moved to California, where she attended Taft, Bakersfield, Long Beach and Anaheim schools.

In 1959, she moved from Casper, Wyo., to Licking.

She married W. Zane Caviness Sept. 29, 1960. They farmed for much of their married life, raising cattle on their farm north of Licking.

Mrs. Caviness loved to cook, fish and work in the garden with her husband. She constantly baked cookies and cakes to give to friends and family.

Due to her declining health, they sold the farm in 1992 and moved to town.

She enjoyed feeding and watching the birds, especially the hummers.

She was a member of the Church of Christ at Licking.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband; brothers, Dick Kofahl of Licking and Greg Kofahl of Garland, Texas.

Services were July 25 at the Church of Christ in Licking with Larry Tubbs officiating. Burial was in the Ozark Memorial Gardens at Rolla under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.

Memorials may be made to the Son Shine and Rainbow Day School in care of Larry Tubbs at the Licking Church of Christ.
