Homer Edward Wyatt, 72, son of Walter Jacob and Hattie Casteel Wyatt, was born Sept. 7, 1934, at Des Arc, Ark. He died June 29, 2007, at Springfield after suffering injuries in a motorcycle accident.
Mr. Wyatt grew up at Des Arc, Ark., graduating from high school in 1953.
He married Betty Jean Taylor May 30, 1954. They had four children.
The Wyatts lived in Indiana and moved to Michigan, where their four children were born. In 1858, Mr. Wyatt lost his job and the family moved to California, where he worked in the southern part of the state trimming trees.
In 1972, the Melba and Sunset Drive-in theatres were for sale and the family moved to the Ozarks. Mr. Wyatt moved the Melba from downtown Houston to a new building next to the Sunset Drive-In, renaming it Century I.
In 1983, they sold the theatres and moved to Mountain Grove to open a bowling alley. They spent 20 years there, retiring in 2003.
One of Mr. Wyatt’s greatest joys was riding his Harley motorcycle. He and his wife took many long trips, visiting state parks and Canada. He visited the local restaurants for coffee and storytelling.
He was a member of Texas Lodge #177 AF and AM.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife of the home at Mountain Grove; two sons, Tommy of Mountain Grove and Dick of Midlothian, Texas; two daughters, Debbie Causey of Cabool and Terri Hyde of Mountain Grove; three sisters, Mary Lamb of Cookville, Tenn., Mildred Williams of Des Arc, Ark., and Carolyn McKinney of Hot Springs, Ark.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were July 3 at Faith Fellowship with the Rev. Bill Villapiano officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
