William R. Wilson, 74, son of Joseph and Lillian Taylor Wilson, was born Aug. 18, 1932, at Belleville, Ill. He died July 15, 2007, at Springfield. He was a former resident of Waterloo, Iowa.
He served in the Navy Reserves for eight years, retired from the Norfolk Southern Railroad and was owner of Wilson’s Western Wear.
A Hartshorn resident, he was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Houston. He was past president of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, senior bowling league, past member of Prairie du Rocher Saddle Club and charter member of Waterloo Quadrilles Square Dancing.
After retirement, he liked working with model trains and rehabbing his Model A.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his wife, Audrey; children, Dennis Wilson of Worden, Ill., Terry Wilson, Shawn Wilson and Tim Wilson of Waterloo, Iowa; one brother, David Wilson; one sister, Joan Sims; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services are 10 o’clock Friday at the Quernheim Funeral Home in Waterloo, Iowa, with the Rev. David Kettner officiating. Burial is in the SS Peter and Paul Cemetery at Waterloo, Iowa.
Visitation is 4 o’clock today (Thursday) until service time Friday at the Quernheim Funeral Home, 800 S. Market St., Waterloo, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to the Holy Cross Lutheran Church building fund.
