Nanabell “Dixie” Carter, 73, daughter of Roy and Julia Fields, was born Dec. 19, 1933, in Dallas County. She died July 30, 2007, in Laclede County.

A retired bookbinder for more than 30 years and a member of the Bookbinder Union in Kansas City, she lived at Roby.

She married Herbert Carter May 16, 1955, in Kansas City. They had two children and were later divorced.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Willy Fields and George Fields.

Surviving are her children, Ellen “Bobbi” Moberly of Falcon and Herb “JR” Carter of Lawson; brother, Ira Fields of Springfield; two sisters, Rosemary Stubblefield and Lanore Burgess of Springfield, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

Memorial services are 10 o’clock Friday at Greenlawn South in Springfield.

Visitation is 9 a.m. until time for services at the funeral home.
