Everett Stewart, 82, son of Oscar Stewart and Bessie Day Stewart, was born Feb. 2, 1925, at Hartshorn. He died Aug. 8, 2007, at his home at Hartshorn.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-’47. After his discharge, he worked in eastern New Mexico on a farm and in the oil fields.

He married Geraldine Stroud Oct. 11, 1948, at Portales, N.M., when he was ready to return to Missouri. They had two children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmer Oscar, James “Bud” Wesley and Paul Amos; and sisters, Velma Kirkman and Ethel Farrow.

Surviving are his wife; children, Shirley Kay Darby of Fort Collins, Colo., and Tommy Everett of Summersville; sister, Vergie Atchison of Houston; brothers, Ervin Stewart of Houston and Donald Stewart of Hartshorn; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 11 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel in Summersville with the Rev. Gary Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Antioch Cemetery.
