Lois L. Nelson Wilson, 75, daughter of Harley B. and Letha Jane Williams Dawson, was born Feb. 19, 1932, at Plato. She died July 27, 2007, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Mrs. Wilson spent the majority of her life at Houston, graduating from HHS in 1951.
She married Don Nelson May 19, 1951. They had two daughters.
Mrs. Wilson retired from The Lee Co. in 1998 after more than 25 years. She continued to meet monthly with the girls from work.
She married John Wilson Jr. Oct. 25, 1999.
Mrs. Wilson was known for her seamstress and cooking skills. Her fried chicken was the highlight of birthday dinners.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Houston.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband Sept. 1, 1977; and a brother, Garold Dawson.
Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Linda Troutman and Roxie Sponsler of Houston; one stepson, Mike Wilson; one brother, Verl Dawson of Houston; a special cousin, June Benton; four grandchildren and a great-grandson.
Services were July 30 at the First Baptist Church in Houston with Dr. Howell Burkhead and the Rev. Kenneth Gibson officiating. Burial was in the Central Baptist Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
