With the help of other agencies, the Texas County Sheriff’s Department cracked down on drug manufacturers and users with multiple arrests last week.
On Aug. 20, deputies located multiple drug-related items at a residence near Raymondville and during the investigation, identified two suspects who were arrested that evening after purchasing dry ice at two local stores.
Arrested and charged with attempting to manufacture a controlled substance was Russell L. Deck, 29, of Houston. His bond was set at $50,000, and he received no bond on a probation violation. Also arrested on an outstanding parole warrant was William B. Cornett, who was transported to the Missouri Department of Corrections.
Based on information gathered during the investigation, two separate dump sites were located in the northern part of the county. The dangerous chemicals were removed and disposed of safely.
The following day, authorities from Texas County, with the assistance of the Licking Police Department, nabbed two individuals who were involved in an active methamphetamine lab. The investigation led officers to Old Salem Road, where four individuals were arrested and a deputy, who is hazardous materials certified, dismantled a lab. Among items located in the lab were anhydrous ammonia, drain cleaner, ephedrine, coffee filters, HEET, starter fluid, tubing and a hot plate.
Arrested were Rudy A Marr, 20, and Michael S. Skouby, 26, both of Licking. Marr and Skouby were charged with manufacture of a controlled substance. Each bond was $50,000. Marr received no bond for a probation violation.
