Thelma Oriole Jones, 93, daughter of Jessie and Effie Aikman Burton, was born Nov. 2, 1913, at Stillwater, Okla. She died Aug. 3, 2007, at Bothwell Regional Health Center at Sedalia.
When she was 2, she and her mother traveled by train to Mexico, where they homesteaded. They returned in 1927 to the Texas County area.
She married Buford Earl Jones June 29, 1934. They had one daughter.
Mrs. Jones loved to read, watch the birds and spend time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Surviving are her daughter, Vesta Harper of La Monte; two grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 7 at the Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wesley Wallace officiating. Burial was in the Pine Lawn Cemetery.
