Wayne Williamson, 81, the third of seven children of John T. and Ruth Howk Williamson, was born July 15, 1926, at Plato. He died Aug. 2, 2007, in Denver, Colo., after an extended battle with cancer.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-’48 and again during the Korean War from 1951-’53.
He met his wife while on vacation in Idaho and soon returned permanently. He married Mary Belle Conn in 1954, and they settled in Treasure Valley, where he worked in the floor-covering business. They operated Willamson Floor Covering from 1967-’77.
After 1977, they were involved in several businesses including a real estate company and building and remodeling homes. He could fix anything from cars and houses to machines
On retirement, they relocated to Denver to be close to their two daughters.
Mr. Williamson was a member of the Church of God Seventh Day for more than 50 years.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Dean; and sisters, Mary Collins and Jewel Buckles.
Surviving are his wife; three daughters, Sharon Millward, Connie Hicks and Wanda Oppenheim; sisters, Fern Helton and Nell Paul; brother, Dean Williamson; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were Aug. 8 at the Meridian Church of God Seventh Day with graveside services at Meridian Cemetery under the direction of Meridian’s Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home of Meridian.
