A Houston man is suspected in separate thefts at a Houston storage business. In one case, the burglar dropped from a rafter inside one of the units, police said.

Officers were called Sept. 25 to Houston Self Storage, where a man was seen falling inside a storage unit by the owner. The renter of the unit, Carrie Deckard, 27, 410 N. Grand Ave., reported that she had not given anyone permission to go inside the unit. Items missing from the business – including a couch and chair – have been recovered. A report has been forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office.

Authorities also are investigating items stolen from another unit. Drew St. John, 24, of 802 Ozark, reported two electric guitars were missing. Police said the man suspected in the first case is a suspect in this investigation. A 27-year-old Houston man had pawned one of them.

No name has been released pending charges.

In other matters, police:

-Investigated a report that a 37-year-old worker had exhibited a knife toward a cleaning lady at Horse Creek Inn, 1121 S. Sam Houston Blvd. According to the report, the man had been drinking when the 7-1/8″-inch knife was exhibited. Charges are pending following the Sept. 14 incident.

-Charged Dawn M. Sikes, 29, of 530 Florence St., and Donald L. Crane Jr., 27, of 731 Dooley St. with receiving stolen property. The playground equipment was discovered taken from the former Tots to Tigers Daycare at 214 Ozark in Houston. Owner Jodi Breedlove reported the theft.

-Arrested Michael N. Thomas, 23, of Licking, on a Crawford County warrant charging him with failing to appear on an original charge of felony stealing. He posted $7,000 bond on Sept. 27.

-Arrested Gerald D. Ferguson, 48, of 304 Bryan, on a probation violation on Oct. 2.
