Cornelius Joseph Wulff, 94, one of five children of Phillip and Theresa Wulff, was born Sept. 22, 1913, at Argyle. He died Oct. 13, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

He married Alberta Pearl Gray of Van Cleve Dec. 31, 1933. They had four children and lived in Union, St. Louis, Sedalia and Licking over the years.

His wife died July 5, 1970. In 1975, he married Mabel Chandler Cook, who died in 2001.

Over the years, he was foreman in a shoe factory, in construction and was an entrepreneur. He started Wulff Charcoal in Licking with his brother, Victor.

Throughout his life, Mr. Wulff had a variety of hobbies. He enjoyed playing and watching baseball, hunting quail and deer, fishing, collecting photos of his trophy catches and spending time with family and friends.

He was baptized in the Catholic church as an infant and began serving Mass at age 7. At the time of his death, he was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Licking, which he helped found in the early ’60s.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Arthur and Victor Wulff; one sister, Pauline; son, Phillip Edgar Wulff; and two grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Jacquelyn Joyce Ward and Madonna Kay Williams of Licking and Myrna Elaine Friend of Newburg; one sister, Rose Marie Sciales of St. Charles; 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Mass was Oct. 17 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church at Licking with Father Mat Rehrauar officiating. Burial was in the Licking Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home of Licking.
