Eleanor Marie Ritchart Murrell, 92, daughter of Harry and Marie Beth Houston Ritchart, was born Nov. 27, 1914, at Aurora. She died Sept. 30, 2007, at Glenwood Healthcare at Seymour.
She married Van V. Murrell Dec. 24, 1934. They had one daughter.
Mrs. Murrell taught at the Houston Schools for several years, at Seymour in the old rock school and retired at the Waynesville Schools before moving to Springfield.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Seymour and the Eastern Star. She volunteered for church activities and at nursing homes.
In her spare time, she enjoyed watching horses races on TV, reading and sewing projects.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, March 25, 1983; and a daughter, Estelle Mathis.
Surviving are a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life was Oct. 9 at the Seymour United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour. Burial will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Springfield.
