Herman Lee Collins, 51, son of Herlin and Vernia Stubbs Collins, was born Sept. 2, 1956, at Siloam Springs. He died Oct. 13, 2007, at Texas County Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

He graduated from Houston High School in 1975 and married Mary Kathryn Fox March 17, 1979, at the First Free Baptist Church in Houston. They had two children.

Mr. Collins was involved in dairy farming during and after high school. He worked at Indian Creek Manufacturing and New England Log Homes. After the log home factory closed, he went back to dairy farming until his health forced him to quit.

He loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed raising chickens.

He accepted Jesus as savior many years ago. He struggled with health issues over the years and battled cancer in 1983 and ’84.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and a brother, Bobby Collins.

Surviving are his wife of the home; two children, Johnathan and Kathie of the home; three brothers, Robert of Houston, Jerry of Arkansas and Eddie of Fair Play; two sisters, Joyce Ellison of Houston and Joann Casey of Thayer.

Service were Oct. 16 at the Ozark Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Jetton and Scott Barton officiating. Burial was in the Union Chapel Cemetery under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
