John David Robison Sr., 81, son of Oscar Thomas Robison and Artie Marie Winsor Robison, was born July 14, 1926, at Fort Smith, Ark. He died Sept. 24, 2007, at his home near West Plains.
He retired as a petty officer first class in 1963 from the U.S. Navy. He had numerous assignments during his career and among the medals he was awarded were the World War II Victory Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, China Service Medal and Navy Occupation.
He married Donna Sue Sullivan Oct. 22, 1948. They had three children.
Mr. Robison enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, taking care of his animals and fishing.
He was a member of the West Plains Kiwanis for 10 years, the Belle Point Lodge #20 of Fort Smith, Ark., and a Mason for 50 years.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters; his son, John David Robison Jr.; and a granddaughter.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years; one son, Kenny Robison of Buffalo; daughter, Denise Cameron of West Plains; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and numerous step-grandchildren.
Graveside services with full military honors were Sept. 27 at the Howell Valley Cemetery under the direction of Fox Funeral Home of Licking.
