Enrollment has increased by 10 percent at Raymondville Schools, the board of education heard in its October meeting.
There are 118 students enrolled in K-8 at Raymondville, a significant increase from the same date last year.
School board members also:
*Were told a completed audit will be presented for approval in November.
*Approved the annual school climate program evaluation. As part of the report, Superintendent Nathan Holder referred the board to the results of the parent’s questionnaire for MSIP cycle four, which had very favorable results.
*Learned revenue is slightly down for the year. Part of the shortfall is anticipated in the budget, and part is due to the state not yet releasing the Small Schools Grant money for 2007-’08. It will be released Oct. 22.
*Heard the district will participate in the Jenkins Wellness Program offered by Jenkins and Associates.
*Were notified that the MSBA Board Policies and Procedures have been received. An adoption process will begin next month and continue over the next several board meetings.
*Heard the Facilities Improvement Committee met for the first time before the board meeting. It will meet at least three times with the goal of developing a long-range plan for facilities improvement.
*Approved the hiring of Cretia Ussery as a paraprofessional.
