Vernon Dean Chilton, 82, son of Clede Chilton and Ethel Tilley Young Chilton, was born Nov. 21, 1924, at Eminence. He died Sept. 24, 2007, at his home at Fairmount City, Ill.
He grew up in the Round Springs area, moving to Fairmount City in 1945.
He operated an acid loader at American Zinc, retiring in 1989.
He loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving are his brother, Junior Chilton of Fairmount City, Ill.; and his caregiver, Kimberly Webber of Fairmount City, Ill.
Services were Sept. 27 at the Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Burial was in the Summersville City Cemetery.
